Android 15 Beta 3 introduces a brand-new wallpaper selector that allows users to share AI-generated backgrounds created on the Pixel 8+. This updated selector features a card-based user interface that clearly differentiates between wallpaper options for the lock screen and main screen.
When using the wallpaper selector, tapping on an option takes you to a full-screen preview mode. The bottom toolbar has been removed for a cleaner look, allowing users to pinch and zoom to adjust their selections freely. To return to the card view, simply tap the checkmark in the upper right corner. The final step is to "Set Wallpaper," where you can choose to apply the background to both screens or just one. As with previous versions, users can individually customize backgrounds for each screen.
This new card-based interface shines particularly on the Pixel Fold, where it supports a preview for the inner screen. While interacting with AI-generated wallpapers, users will notice pencil and share icons appear at the bottom. The pencil icon serves as a quick-edit option for prompts, while the share button introduces a new feature for sharing generated backgrounds. Although sharing capabilities were previously available in the Emoji Workshop, integrating this feature into the wallpaper app significantly enhances user convenience.
Starting with Beta 3, users can access the system sharing panel, though the ability to download or upload wallpaper files is currently unavailable.
