OpenAI has made headlines this week by announcing an exciting update to its flagship large language model, ChatGPT. The latest version introduces the ability to import files directly from external cloud storage, including Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.
Available exclusively for ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise subscribers, this feature utilizes the newly launched GPT-4o model, while also supporting earlier versions.
To access this integration, users can simply click the small paper clip icon located to the left of the text prompt in the ChatGPT desktop interface.
OpenAI has released an animated video demonstrating this new workflow, which can be found on their blog and X account.
To use the feature, you will need to grant access to your Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive account. Supported file types include spreadsheets, presentations, and documents, which can be imported directly into ChatGPT.
The updated interface enhances your interaction with spreadsheets, allowing you to view them in full-screen mode and edit them in real-time using the AI model. Once your edits are complete, you can easily download a copy of your modified document or spreadsheet directly from ChatGPT.
OpenAI highlights the new capabilities: “You can now customize and interact with bar, line, pie, and scatter plot charts during your conversation. Hover over chart elements, ask additional questions, or change colors. When you're ready, download your charts for use in presentations or documents.”
For users concerned about privacy, OpenAI assures that “We don’t train on data from ChatGPT Team and Enterprise customers, and ChatGPT Plus users can opt out of training through their Data Controls,” which are accessible in the settings menu.
This feature update is a notable enhancement for users who utilize ChatGPT for document work, streamlining their workflow and expanding the chatbot's functionality.
