Cohere Launches Command R Models in Amazon Bedrock: Explore New AI Capabilities Today!

Amazon Bedrock developers can now utilize Cohere’s Command R and Command R+ large language models (LLMs). This expansion enhances the selection for enterprise customers, complementing existing options like Anthropic’s Claude 3 Sonnet, Haiku, Opus, Mistral 7B, and Mixtral 8x7B.

These updates follow the recent launch of Cohere’s Command R+, which outperformed OpenAI’s GPT-4 in key performance benchmarks. Previously available on Microsoft Azure and Amazon SageMaker, these models are now integrated into AWS's AI development platform.

“We’re excited to integrate Cohere’s state-of-the-art Command R model family into Amazon Bedrock, providing enterprise customers with increased choice and flexibility to select models that best fit their use cases," says Atul Deo, general manager of Amazon Bedrock at AWS. "The Command R and R+ models are scalable, RAG-optimized, and multilingual, supporting ten languages to deliver effective solutions for organizations worldwide."

This development allows companies to choose the most suitable LLMs for transforming proof-of-concept ideas into operational applications while simplifying their workloads. Cohere stands to gain by broadening access to its advanced models, potentially increasing revenue from its AI initiatives.

The timing of this release is strategic, especially as OpenAI recently unveiled new enterprise-grade features for its GPT-4 Turbo. OpenAI's Head of Product for its API, Olivier Godement, noted, “When you talk to developers and businesses about meaningful work for AI models, OpenAI still has the lead. That said, we always welcome more competition — it’s how everyone gets better.”

Developers can easily access Command R and Command R+ via Amazon Bedrock by selecting them from a list of supported models. These new LLMs join Cohere’s existing offerings: Command, Command Light, Embed English, and Embed Multilingual. Currently, they are available in the US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon) regions, with plans to expand to more regions in the future.
