Meta has introduced a new platform called AI Studio that allows users to create custom AI chatbots for social media platforms like Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. AI Studio is powered by Meta’s advanced AI model, Llama 3.1, enabling users to build AI characters that can interact with users automatically.
During a fireside chat between Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at Siggraph, AI Studio was unveiled as a safe space for users to role-play, simulate conversations, and receive feedback. With AI Studio, creators on Instagram can set up AI extensions of themselves to quickly respond to common DM questions and story replies, enhancing engagement with their audience.
Businesses can also benefit from AI Studio by using bots to automatically respond to DMs on Instagram, sharing information or content efficiently. Meta has released a best practices guide to assist users in creating their ideal chatbots within AI Studio.
Examples of chatbots created using AI Studio include a dog-themed chatbot offering positive affirmations by actor Rocky Kanaka and a bot providing tips on local dining customs by chef Marc Murphy. Users can customize their chatbots by giving them names, personalities, and tones for responses, as well as selecting who the AI responds to.
Initially available to U.S. users, Meta plans to expand AI Studio’s reach, aiming to empower anyone to leverage the creative capabilities of AI. This rollout follows regulatory scrutiny in the EU and Brazil over Meta’s data usage in AI training practices.
