Microsoft has launched Copilot Pro, a new subscription service priced at $20 per user per month, designed to enhance productivity through advanced AI tools. This offering caters to individual users, providing them with access to generative AI capabilities across popular Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
Copilot Pro integrates seamlessly across devices, including smartphones, thanks to the newly released Copilot app, which is now widely available. It's important to note that a Microsoft 365 subscription remains a prerequisite for accessing these AI-enhanced features. Subscribers to Copilot Pro will benefit from the latest models, notably OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo, ensuring rapid and efficient responses to queries. Additionally, users will soon have the option to switch between AI models for customized performance based on their specific needs.
A standout feature of the Copilot Pro subscription is access to the Image Creator from Designer, an innovative tool that allows users to generate intricate images using AI technology. Microsoft is committed to data security; the subscription includes robust commercial data protection at no extra cost, ensuring that chat data is not saved and that user data is not utilized to train AI models.
For premium users, the opportunity to create a custom Copilot GPT—akin to OpenAI’s tailored GPTs—will be available soon. With the upcoming Copilot GPT Builder, users can effortlessly develop personalized versions of the assistant using only a few initial prompts. “Our goal is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more by bringing Copilot, the everyday AI companion, to millions of people around the world,” stated Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s consumer chief marketing officer.
In a significant move for businesses, Microsoft has also opened its commercial version, Copilot for Microsoft 365, to organizations of all sizes. Previously, a minimum of 300 licensed users were required to access these advanced AI tools. Smaller businesses with fewer than 300 employees must possess either a Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Business Premium license to subscribe to Copilot for Microsoft 365, which is available at $30 per user per month. Larger enterprises are required to have licenses for Microsoft 365 E3 or E5, or Office 365 E3 or E5.
Notably, 40% of Fortune 100 companies engaged in Microsoft’s Early Access Program for enterprise Copilot, with prominent participants including Honda, Pfizer, Visa, and BP.
**New Features of Copilot**
Microsoft Copilot is now accessible through a mobile app for both Android and iOS, enabling users to engage with Copilot while on the move. The app offers the same functionalities as the desktop version, including access to GPT-4 and Dall-E 3 for image creation. Users can also upload images from their mobile devices when interacting with Copilot.
Increasing user convenience, Copilot will soon be integrated into the Microsoft 365 mobile app, with a rollout planned over the coming month. This integration will allow users to access Copilot from within the app and export their content to Word or PDF documents.
“With today’s announcements, we continue to bring Copilot to more customers with more options that work for them,” Mehdi emphasized, highlighting Microsoft’s commitment to expanding accessibility and enhancing user experience through cutting-edge AI technology.
