Mere days after the launch of Einstein Copilot for Tableau, Salesforce is enhancing another core product. Led by Marc Benioff, the CRM giant is boosting Mulesoft’s automation, integration, and API management solutions with new AI tools.
These offerings, set to become generally available in the coming months, include an Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) tool designed to extract and organize data from various documents. Additionally, the integration of the Einstein assistant across the platform will empower users to drive workflows using natural language prompts.
Salesforce asserts these new capabilities will streamline processes for developers and business teams, enhancing productivity and accelerating time to value.
Intelligent Document Processing for Business Teams
Since acquiring Mulesoft, Salesforce has made substantial improvements, focusing on both IT and business teams. For IT, the Anypoint integration and API platform enables seamless connections between systems and the CRM. For business users, automation solutions like Mulesoft RPA and Composer are available.
Now, Salesforce is adding Intelligent Document Processing to its suite, utilizing pre-trained AI models with configured templates to automatically extract and structure data from documents, such as PDFs and images. This automation covers the entire document processing lifecycle. Notably, competitors like Snowflake have also launched similar capabilities, including Document AI features.
Mulesoft IDP
IDP seamlessly integrates with the Anypoint platform, Flow, and RPA automation solutions, allowing users to automate the integration of extracted data with downstream Salesforce systems. This functionality can aid in budget reconciliation, order fulfillment, and supplier onboarding. Users also have the option to maintain human oversight for generated outputs.
Currently, IDP is in a pilot phase with select customers, with general availability expected by the end of April. Salesforce plans to enhance IDP further by incorporating its Einstein predictive and generative AI assistant, enabling users to retrieve relevant insights from documents through natural language queries. Einstein will also assist in formatting responses as JSON outputs and in classifying and summarizing documents.
Einstein to Power Other Mulesoft Solutions
Beyond IDP, Salesforce has confirmed that Einstein will enhance other Mulesoft solutions, including Flow and Anypoint Code Builder.
For Flow, Einstein will allow admins to create automated workflows—such as marketing journeys and data-triggered automations—using natural language commands. Users of Anypoint Code Builder, Mulesoft’s IDE for API development and integration, will be able to leverage the assistant to generate new integration flows.
Salesforce anticipates launching Einstein for Flow in June 2024, with Einstein for IDP following in the third quarter of 2024. Einstein for Anypoint Code Builder is currently in beta, with no specific timeline for general availability yet announced.
