Quantum Systems, a drone manufacturer based in Munich, has recently concluded a significant series B funding round. This round saw new investments from Notion Capital and Porsche Automobil Holding SE, alongside participation from existing investors, bringing the total funding to over $110 million. The initial funding of about $71 million was led by HV Capital and DTCP, with continued support from Project A, Thiel Capital, ScaleUp Fonds Bayern, Omnes Capital, and Airbus Ventures.
The additional investments will be utilized by Quantum to propel its international expansion efforts and drive further innovation. The focus will be on enhancing production capabilities and investing in research and development, particularly in software and AI. Florian Seibel, Quantum's CEO and cofounder, expressed gratitude to investors for their support, emphasizing the importance of partnerships to foster technological innovation in Europe.
Quantum specializes in AI-equipped drones that cater to various industries such as mining, construction, agriculture, utilities, public safety, and defense. The company's drone systems, including Trinity Pro for commercial mapping and Vector, Scorpion, and Twister for military applications, are instrumental in capturing, analyzing, and processing sensor data from the air.
A recent successful deployment by Quantum and Airbus Defence & Space involved a swarm of seven AI-controlled drones at the Airbus Drone Center in Germany. This collaboration, part of the German military's KITU 2 study, showcased the capabilities of Vector and Scorpion drones paired with multipurpose drones from Airbus. The collaboration integrated reconnaissance data in real-time, contributing to a joint-situation picture integrated into the Airbus Fortion Joint C2 battle-management system.
Sven Kruck, Quantum's chief revenue officer and managing director, highlighted the company's commitment to enhancing drone technology to provide users with a tangible advantage in real-world scenarios, particularly in protecting soldiers and ensuring safety. The future of drone technology, according to Kruck, lies in software-based and AI-supported systems.
The advancements and partnerships forged by Quantum underscore its commitment to driving innovation and creating a lasting impact across various industries.
