Apple Engages in AI Partnership Discussions with Meta to Accelerate Competitive Edge

Apple is actively seeking partnerships to enhance its newly announced Apple Intelligence with generative AI. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple has engaged in discussions with Meta to explore the integration of its generative AI model. Additionally, talks have been held with startups Anthropic and Perplexity. However, no agreements have been finalized yet.

At the recent WWDC event, Apple revealed its anticipated collaboration with OpenAI, which will introduce ChatGPT to the latest generations of iPhones, iPads, and Macs with the upcoming OS update. Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior VP of Software Engineering, also mentioned Google’s Gemini as a potential addition to Apple Intelligence. “We want to enable users ultimately to choose the models they want,” he stated, indicating Apple's intent to explore multiple options.

Currently, OpenAI is the only confirmed partner, with its GPT-4o model set to enhance Siri and other Apple tools. Some features are expected to launch later this year.
