Microsoft Begins Testing Copilot Vision in Edge Browser

Microsoft has begun a trial run of an AI feature that was teased earlier this year. Copilot Vision, designed to monitor your web browsing and chat about it, is now open for testing within Copilot Labs. But there are some catches. For now, it's only compatible with Microsoft Edge and limited to a few select websites. Microsoft plans to gradually increase the number of supported sites. The trial is also restricted to a limited group of Copilot Pro subscribers in the US, who pay a monthly fee of $20. Over time, Microsoft aims to extend this trial to a broader audience.

Ensuring Privacy with Copilot Vision

Microsoft has made it clear that using Copilot Vision is completely optional and the data from each session is temporary. Users need to activate it manually, and once the session ends, all related data is wiped clean. The company assures that the feature only analyzes the text and images from the websites you browse and doesn't process any other content or use the data from web publishers for training. This careful rollout seems to be a response to the backlash Microsoft received for its Recall feature, which automatically took screenshots of all user activities on PCs. Privacy and security experts criticized Microsoft for not encrypting the data. After several delays and making necessary security adjustments, Recall is now available for testing by Windows Insiders.
