A new AI video platform has officially launched in the commercial market. Previously known as Aug X, Augie Studio is an all-in-one solution designed for businesses of all sizes to generate social video content effortlessly. After two years of beta testing, the company has introduced new pricing tiers, including an enterprise plan tailored for creative advertising and marketing teams.
“When we first started the company, we conducted extensive end-user research to understand their needs. No one wants another AI-powered version of [Adobe] Premiere; they’re looking for something akin to what Canva brought to image creation but applied to video,” explains Jeremy Toeman, co-founder and CEO of Augie Studio. “How can we create a video product that anyone can use, regardless of their background?”
Key Features of Augie Studio
Augie Studio targets brands aiming to produce more videos, with estimates suggesting around 70% of businesses fall into this category. The platform is designed to support social media marketers, brand managers, and creative advertisers, potentially allowing immediate adoption without steep learning curves. Currently, the platform boasts “hundreds of thousands of users.”
How Does Augie Studio Work?
Unlike competitors like OpenAI’s Sora or Kuaishou’s Kling, Augie Studio is not solely an AI generator. It can create scripts, voiceovers, and images from prompts while also offering extensive editing capabilities. Users can customize imagery, scripts, and voice talent, and the platform is model-agnostic, allowing creators to leverage their preferred language models.
Toeman shares that user feedback reveals an enjoyable experience: “One of the most exciting things we've heard is that we’ve made video editing fun for people.”
Streamlined Onboarding Process
The onboarding process is straightforward. Users can select from nine options tailored to various scenarios, such as creating an ad from scratch, crafting an explainer video, or producing a podcast trailer. However, access to these options may vary based on subscription levels.
Augie Studio has improved significantly since its beta launch. The latest version employs advanced computer vision and includes a "matchy-matchy" engine that aligns spoken words with corresponding content.
Additional Features Include:
- Dynamic Asset Library: An AI-powered search function that scans B-roll footage for specific scenes. Some users may have unlimited access to Getty Images’ licensed content.
- Automatic Content Creation: The platform can generate missing elements, such as storyboards, matching media, and more.
- User-Friendly Editing: An intuitive interface simplifies editing views, transitions, captions, and music, making professional-grade production accessible.
Toeman emphasizes, “Everything in this version performs better and the interface is enhanced.” Looking ahead, a collaborative mode is anticipated for release this summer.
Pricing Options
Augie Studio offers three subscription tiers. The free version supports up to 60-second videos with a total of two minutes per month. The $40 monthly premium plan allows for two-minute videos and 10 total minutes per month, including AI scriptwriting and access to a voice library.
The enterprise plan, priced at $249 per month, provides unlimited 10-minute videos, guided onboarding, and access to a dedicated support community, along with features tailored for corporate needs.
Ethical and Copyright Considerations
For brands, Augie Studio ensures all content is safe to use. Toeman notes partnerships with Getty Images and reliance on Creative Commons-cleared sources for background music and sanctioned voices. The platform utilizes ElevenLabs for voice work, ensuring material is properly cleared before use.
This diligence may reassure organizations that content generated through Augie Studio will avoid copyright issues, and brand marketers can utilize their own sourced materials without third-party dependency.
A Unique Approach to Video Editing
What distinguishes Augie Studio from other AI video generation tools is its focus on providing a robust editing platform. “We’re not concerned with LLMs that generate clips for you. We see those as complementary to our services,” asserts Toeman. He believes there’s a crucial need for a video editing solution that bridges the gap between user-friendly interfaces like iMovie and the more complex functionality of Premiere Pro—a need Augie Studio aims to fill.
