ChatGPT for iOS Now Integrates Bing Search - Exclusive for Subscribers at $20/Month

On June 28, OpenAI announced significant updates to its ChatGPT app for iOS, originally launched in May. One of the key enhancements is the integration with Microsoft’s Bing search engine, exclusively available to paid subscribers.

The app's latest update introduces a "Browsing" functionality for ChatGPT Plus users, combining the power of GPT-4 with Bing search. This feature enables ChatGPT to provide comprehensive and up-to-date insights on current events and information beyond its initial training data. In essence, ChatGPT can now access the internet via Bing, allowing for more accurate and relevant responses.

Previously, ChatGPT was trained on data up to September 2021, limiting its awareness of subsequent events. The new integration with Bing effectively addresses this gap, mirroring the capabilities already available on the web version of ChatGPT.

Moreover, Microsoft’s multi-billion dollar investment in OpenAI positioned Bing as the default search engine for ChatGPT. OpenAI’s generative AI is also embedded in Microsoft’s Edge browser and includes various features in Bing.

To access the Bing-powered functionality, users should navigate to the "New Features" section in the app and select the GPT-4 model. The ChatGPT iOS app is available for free download in the App Store, although some features require a ChatGPT Plus subscription, which costs $20 per month. The app is currently accessible in over 40 regions worldwide.
