ChatGPT Live Web Browsing Exits Beta Phase as DALL-E 3 Joins Beta Testing

OpenAI has officially released live web browsing, moving it out of beta. Initially launched earlier this year, the feature was retracted after it repeatedly accessed data from paywalled content. Now, live web browsing, known as "Browse with Bing," is a standard option for ChatGPT users, integrated directly into the dropdown menu under the GPT-4 model selector without the need for a beta toggle. This update is significant, as the chatbot had previously been limited by a knowledge cutoff date of September 2021, rendering it unaware of current events. As OpenAI noted, “Browsing is particularly useful for tasks that require up-to-date information, such as technical research, selecting a bike, or planning a vacation.”

Additionally, DALL-E 3, the next-generation image generation tool, is now available in beta for ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise subscribers. Unlike DALL-E 2, which launched independently, DALL-E 3 is fully integrated within the ChatGPT interface, enhancing user experience by eliminating the need to switch between applications. OpenAI states that DALL-E 3 excels at understanding user intent, particularly with complex prompts, and offers improvements in rendering accuracy, especially for challenging elements like hands. The tool also allows users to refine their results using natural language follow-up queries. Notably, DALL-E 3 has been designed to avoid mimicking the styles of living artists, reducing the risk of potential legal issues.
