Create Custom AI-Generated Playlist Art with YouTube Music

YouTube is launching an exciting new feature that allows users to create personalized playlist art using generative AI, the Google-owned platform announced on Tuesday. This experimental feature is available starting today for English-speaking users in the United States, with plans to expand to more regions and languages soon.

To begin, simply click on your playlist's default image. You'll then be able to browse through various themes, including travel, nature, landscapes, fantasy, animals, and humor. Once you select a theme, choose from a range of prompts. For example, if you opt for the animal theme, you can request an image of a pug styled as either “a Medieval Gothic painting” or “a Pop Art piece.”

After making your selections, hit the “Create” button. You’ll receive a collection of AI-generated images to choose from. Once you find one you love, click “save” to set it as your playlist cover art.

“The guided experience allows users to seamlessly explore diverse visual themes and options to design unique cover art that reflects the individuality of their personal playlists,” the company noted in a blog post. “Having trouble finding the right artwork for your 90’s R&B-inspired morning commute playlist? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.”

Additionally, YouTube Music announced that, in the coming months, it will introduce a new feature on the Home tab to help users quickly access their most frequently played songs and artists. Upon launching the app, users will see their recent favorites prominently displayed at the top of the Home tab. This feature will align YouTube Music’s homepage more closely with Spotify, allowing for quick access to recent favorites. The update is part of YouTube Music's ongoing efforts to improve the app's design, making it easier for users to discover and enjoy their favorite music.

These new features come as YouTube Music continues to enhance its service. Recently, the platform introduced a TikTok-style personalized video feed called “Samples.” Each clip offers a sneak peek into the artist, music video, and mood of a recommended song. Furthermore, YouTube Music rolled out timed lyrics, enabling users to follow along with the lyrics in real-time as they listen, along with Comments to engage with the community directly within the app.
