Elon Musk Launches New AI Company: A Game-Changer in Artificial Intelligence Development

Elon Musk, a vocal critic of artificial intelligence, appears to be embarking on a new AI initiative. Reports from The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times reveal the establishment of X.AI Corp, a new artificial intelligence company based in Nevada. A state filing indicates Musk as the sole director, with Jared Birchall, director of Musk's family offices, listed as the secretary. Musk has a penchant for the letter "X," having recently rebranded Twitter, Inc. as X Corp.

Musk's involvement with AI is not new; he co-founded OpenAI nearly a decade ago but left the organization amidst concerns about the technology's direction. Following the surge in popularity of ChatGPT, Musk called for the regulation of AI and signed an open letter advocating for a six-month pause in its development. He has expressed concerns about political bias in AI, cautioning against "woke" training methodologies and aiming to create AI models focused on "truth-seeking."

While specific details about X.AI Corp's objectives remain vague, there are indications of progress. Musk reportedly hired two former DeepMind researchers in March, including Igor Babuschkin, who is believed to lead the new project. Additionally, he has acquired 10,000 GPUs for AI development at a Twitter data center and is in discussions with investors from Tesla and SpaceX to secure funding for his new venture.
