Siri is set to receive significant improvements in spring 2025 with the rollout of Apple's Apple Intelligence AI system via the iOS 18.4 update, according to Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter. Previously, Apple had only hinted at introducing flagship AI features next year, making this announcement more specific.
Apple typically releases new features incrementally through point updates across its operating systems. This means Siri may soon be able to perform tasks on your behalf—like retrieving your driver's license number from a vast photo library for online forms—while other AI features, such as emoji generation or writing assistance, may lag behind.
As beta versions of iOS 18 begin to roll out later this year, more clarity on upcoming features will emerge. Anticipated enhancements include ChatGPT integration, a redesigned Siri interface featuring a pulsing rainbow animation, and improved product knowledge that enables Siri to provide basic tech support.
Additionally, future plans reportedly involve AirPods with embedded cameras, as speculated by supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. These AirPods may feature infrared sensors and be designed to work in tandem with the Vision Pro for gestures and motion detection. Gurman suggests that these upgraded AirPods could resemble Meta's Ray-Ban glasses, with AI capabilities enabling them to process imagery to assist with navigation and provide environmental descriptions. These advancements may be two generations away.
