Snowflake is partnering with Coda, an all-in-one productivity platform, to enhance data utilization strategies for enterprises. This collaboration involves Snowflake’s venture capital arm investing in Coda, which has already raised $240 million. Additionally, they are launching a new integration—a Snowflake Pack—that enables Coda users to seamlessly sync data from their Snowflake data cloud into ongoing projects.
This partnership aims to empower business users, including those without technical expertise, by providing intuitive tools for data analysis and decision-making directly within their workflows. Although specific investment details remain undisclosed, Coda's CEO, Shishir Mehrotra, indicated in a blog post that Snowflake is leading a significant funding round.
How Snowflake and Coda Drive Value
Founded in 2014, Coda focuses on streamlining the array of tools used by enterprise professionals. The platform offers a collaborative workspace that consolidates documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and applications, resulting in a more efficient work environment. Currently, over 40,000 organizations use Coda, bolstered by its integration capabilities—known as Packs—that allow live data synchronization from various third-party applications.
"Coda features over 600 Packs, covering diverse enterprise needs, from data platforms to collaboration tools like Figma and Slack," Mehrotra explained. These integrations enable users to merge different data sources, edit bidirectionally, and create custom visualizations—all within a single platform.
With the new Snowflake Pack, users can access real-time data from their Snowflake cloud directly within Coda, facilitating collaboration and workflow development without leaving their primary workspace. For instance, sales data represented in Coda can automatically refresh with the latest figures from Snowflake.
Mehrotra emphasized that users can integrate tables from custom Snowflake queries into Coda documents effortlessly. Once set up, users can drag and drop data tables to enable a variety of new applications.
"These Packs serve as intuitive building blocks in Coda's interface, allowing users—regardless of their technical skills—to transform data into charts, add data columns, and implement workflows and automations," he added.
Benefits for Business Users
Although the partnership is newly established, select customers have already gained early access, showcasing creative use cases. For example, during customer meeting preparations, users can compile documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and BI reports, integrating Snowflake data for a 360-degree view of their clients.
"Our early adopters have streamlined their data into comprehensive Coda Account Plans backed by Snowflake," Mehrotra noted. This integration not only provides a single source of truth for account teams but also enables sellers to create tailored workflows based on specific account needs.
Coda has also utilized the integration internally to present real-time progress updates in their release documentation, alongside workflows for weekly reports and customer outreach.
"Having up-to-date data in the same place as team collaboration greatly improved our alignment, made possible only through the Snowflake Pack," Mehrotra said.
Looking ahead, both companies plan to enhance this integration further by introducing AI capabilities. While details remain limited, Snowflake has hinted at developing joint products that leverage Coda's existing AI features along with Snowflake's powerful AI services, such as the LLM app service, Cortex.
"We're advancing the integration of structured and unstructured data between Snowflake and Coda to empower enterprise teams to act based on their data," Mehrotra concluded.
