Many of us find ourselves feeling more fatigued than frightened by artificial intelligence (AI). We often feel caught in a cycle of "hurry up and wait" as we track the evolving landscape of AI. The global AI market is projected to exceed $454 billion by 2024, surpassing the GDPs of 180 nations, including Finland and Portugal. However, a recent study suggests that by 2025, 30% of generative AI projects may be abandoned post-proof of concept, and over 80% of AI initiatives could fail—twice the rate of non-AI IT projects.

Blossom or Boom?

Skepticism and pessimism are frequently confused, yet they differ significantly in their approaches. Skepticism encourages inquiry and the questioning of claims, grounded in a desire for evidence. In contrast, pessimism tends to limit possibilities and anticipates negative outcomes, often leading to unproductive behavior.

- Credit cards were questioned for promoting irresponsible spending but led to improvements through user feedback and competition.
