A leaked document on X reveals that Google plans to implement significant changes to its Bard AI tool next week. While not officially confirmed, the report suggests that Bard will be renamed Gemini, aligning with the company's recent launch of its multimodal AI model, also called Gemini, introduced in late 2023. This shift aims for simplicity as Google begins integrating the new model across its products.
The document from developer Dylan Roussel, dated February 7, also states that the paid Gemini Advanced tier will soon be available. A Gemini app for Android is on the horizon as well.
Roussel highlights that the latest changelog for Bard introduces exciting features, including expanded availability in Canada. However, he expresses confusion over the app's limitations, particularly for users in Europe.
Gemini Advanced will provide access to the Ultra 1.0 model, which boasts enhanced capabilities for complex tasks such as coding, logical reasoning, nuanced instruction following, and creative collaboration. Initially, it will launch in over 150 countries, focusing on English optimization with Canada included in this rollout.
