Developers creating applications that utilize AI assistants to deliver spoken content can now harness a new feature in Amazon's Alexa voice. The recently introduced "long-form" speaking style leverages an advanced text-to-speech model optimized for reading various types of content, such as blog posts.
This new feature facilitates an enjoyable listening experience, perfect for users who prefer audio content while cooking, driving, or on the go. It incorporates naturally flowing pauses between paragraphs and dialogue, enhancing the clarity of conversations between characters.
Currently, this capability is available exclusively in US English. However, Amazon has announced that its Polly AWS AI service, which supports 29 languages, will soon offer additional conversational and news speaking styles. Polly now features 10 new voices across six languages, including US Spanish and French Canadian, expanding its accessibility and versatility for global audiences.
