During a lively fireside chat on Monday at the SIGGRAPH 2024 conference in Colorado, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared unexpected moments. What began as a light discussion about Nvidia’s powerful GPUs and Zuckerberg's vision for an AI-driven future evolved into a playful exchange, culminating in the two leaders swapping custom jackets—a nod to a popular meme from earlier in the year.
“It’s black and leather and shearling,” Zuckerberg described the jacket intended for Huang. “It’s a vibe. I mean, get this guy a chain.”
Huang reciprocated with a stylish leather jacket his wife, Lori, gifted him for SIGGRAPH this year, which he had proudly worn for the last two hours.
“This is worth more because it’s used,” Zuckerberg chuckled.
The hour-long conversation featured several surprising highlights, including Zuckerberg’s insights on raising cows on his Hawaiian ranch, an unexpected expletive, and discussions about Zuckerberg’s evolving style, which he humorously termed "early stage." Huang took the opportunity to tease Zuckerberg, possibly due to Meta's reliance on Nvidia's hardware for model training.
“He needs an AI that doesn’t judge,” Huang joked.
One memorable story recounted how Zuckerberg approached tomato slicing while preparing cheesesteak sandwiches at Huang's home. After handing Zuckerberg a knife, Huang noted, “Every single tomato was sliced to the exact millimeter. I had expected them to be neatly stacked, like a deck of cards. Instead, he asked for another plate because none of the slices could touch.”
In a light-hearted exchange, Huang playfully criticized Zuckerberg for wanting seconds of cheesesteak. “Make me another cheesesteak, Jensen,” Zuckerberg shot back with a grin.
As the interview concluded, Huang offered some appreciation for Zuckerberg’s fitness. “I think Mark is pretty buff,” he remarked.
Zuckerberg, wrapping his arms around Huang, responded warmly, “You too, man.”
