On April 16, JD Cloud introduced Liu Qiangdong's AI digital avatar during live sales events for JD Appliance and Home and JD Supermarket. The initial viewer counts were impressive, with 2.99 million and 2.22 million, respectively. Within ten minutes, viewers for the JD Supermarket livestream soared to over 6.24 million, nearly tripling in audience size.
By 7 PM, as Liu Qiangdong's AI concluded its presentation, both livestreams collectively surpassed ten million views. Over a 42-minute session, the AI effectively showcased various food and appliance products while managing listings and engaging with viewers through comments and interactive giveaways. The avatar closely mirrored Liu Qiangdong's real-life expressions and voice, discussing sports and cooking while promoting large-screen TVs and healthy meal planning, establishing itself as a "chief procurement officer."
This AI not only replicates Liu Qiangdong's physical appearance but also captures his essence. With remarkable likeness in expressions and mannerisms, this digital counterpart thrives on continuous learning and optimization from JD's Yansai model. The "Cai Xiao Dong Ge AI digital person" leverages advanced technology for lifelike interactions in e-commerce, helping brands reduce livestream costs, boost operational efficiency, and enhance user experiences.
Currently, over 4,000 brands are employing this digital avatar in their JD livestreams, achieving over a 30% increase in conversion rates during off-peak hours—all at a fraction of the cost of human hosts. To support merchants, JD Cloud is offering a 30-day free trial from April 19 to June 18.
As the e-commerce landscape evolves from reliance on human hosts in livestreaming 1.0 to the enhanced capabilities of 2.0, Liu Qiangdong’s digital persona signifies the emergence of AIGC-driven e-commerce livestreaming 3.0. Looking ahead, JD Cloud plans to expand the integration of digital avatars across various sectors, including e-commerce, tourism, finance, and intelligent services, ensuring that “technology blooms into fruitful industries.”
