Kindo Secures $20.6M Funding to Enhance Security in Enterprise AI Solutions

Kindo, an enterprise AI security platform based in Venice Beach, California, has successfully raised $20.6 million in funding and acquired the open-source security project WhiteRabbitNeo. This brings Kindo's total funding to $27.6 million, following a $7 million seed round led by Riot Ventures in September 2023. Founded in October 2022 by Ron Williams, former COO of Subspace, Kindo has grown to a team of 23 members.

In an interview, Williams emphasized Kindo's mission: "We aim to make it safe for enterprises to adopt and manage AI technologies, including generative AI." Kindo acts as an orchestration platform that enables businesses of all sizes to integrate various AI models seamlessly. Through its API, companies can control access to these models and manage interactions between different applications, thus centralizing security processes.

Historically, organizations have relied on software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers to centralize control over numerous applications. Kindo simplifies this by offering centralized AI capabilities, ensuring that security protocols are not fragmented. Williams explains, “With AI, companies need the same level of control as with other IT services.”

Drive Capital led the funding round, with support from Kindo's existing investors, including RRE Ventures, Marlinspike Partners, Riot Ventures, Eniac Ventures, New Era Ventures, and Sunset Ventures. This new investment will fuel product development, enhance Kindo’s AI security capabilities, and expand sales efforts to reach a broader range of enterprises.

Chris Olsen, managing partner at Drive Capital, stated, "Kindo's innovative approach to AI security addresses a critical need in the enterprise market. As AI adoption accelerates, CIOs and CSOs need a trusted partner to navigate the complex landscape of AI security and governance."

Alongside the funding, Kindo has acquired WhiteRabbitNeo, an AI-powered cybersecurity model. This acquisition aims to combine WhiteRabbitNeo's capabilities with Kindo’s expertise in enterprise AI infrastructure. Williams has committed to investing in the open-source community surrounding WhiteRabbitNeo while integrating its advanced cybersecurity features into Kindo’s platform.

WhiteRabbitNeo’s creator, Migel Tiserra, will join Kindo as an advisor. "The Kindo team is serious about solving the security challenges that enterprises face, and WhiteRabbitNeo adds a powerful tool to their platform," Tiserra noted. The model has gained traction within the security community, with hundreds of thousands of downloads and a thriving Discord community.

Kindo addresses the unique challenges faced by enterprises adopting AI. These include securing various AI models against data breaches and adversarial attacks, complying with evolving regulations, managing shadow AI tools, and ensuring smooth integration with existing enterprise systems. Kindo’s platform allows CIOs to effortlessly deploy and control any AI capability across their organization, supporting diverse AI models and use cases, such as coding assistants and chatbots.

Key features of Kindo’s platform include centralized AI governance, data loss prevention, fine-grained access controls, and integration with over 200 enterprise SaaS applications. Kindo now serves a diverse clientele, including publicly traded companies and leading organizations in mobile applications and open-source software.

Founded by tech industry veterans, Kindo is committed to delivering enterprise-ready solutions for generative AI security, compliance, and centralized management. Williams drew inspiration from past IT transitions, recognizing the impending transformation spurred by advancements in AI. Kindo is already working with clients like Red Rock Entertainment, helping them manage multiple AI models effectively. "We provide the credibility and expertise needed to streamline AI implementation," Williams concluded.
