Leading Tech Minds Join Forces to Revolutionize Human-Computer Interaction
Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, and Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind, have launched Inflection AI, a company focused on enhancing communication between humans and computers through advanced artificial intelligence. Suleyman envisions that, within five years, people will be able to interact with computers using everyday language.
Suleyman will take on the role of CEO, while Karén Simonyan, another DeepMind veteran, will serve as chief scientist. Inflection AI plans to maintain a compact team to ensure agility and a concentrated effort on its goals.
This partnership has been in the making for nearly a decade. Suleyman stepped away from DeepMind in August 2019 for personal rejuvenation and amid feedback regarding his management style. After a brief tenure as Google's VP for AI product management and policy, he joined forces with Hoffman at Greylock Partners.
While specific details about Inflection's target audience and product timelines remain unclear, the expertise of these DeepMind alumni could significantly enhance the company's potential. Addressing the limitations of current AI assistants could lead to substantial improvements in various technologies, from smartphones to next-generation robotics.
