LinkedIn Trials New Premium Company Page Subscription Featuring AI-Powered Content Creation Tools

LinkedIn Testing Premium Company Page Subscription for Small and Medium Businesses

LinkedIn, the social platform focused on the professional world, is quietly experimenting with a new service aimed at increasing its revenue streams, specifically targeting small and medium businesses. LinkedIn is developing a Premium Company Page subscription, which, at a potential cost of $99/month, will feature AI-driven content creation and new tools to enhance follower engagement, among other functionalities designed to elevate a company's online presence.

This initiative is noteworthy as it highlights LinkedIn's ongoing efforts to diversify its business model under Microsoft’s ownership while providing greater value to its users. For years, LinkedIn has faced its share of criticism, often being portrayed as a hub for excessive self-promotion and, at times, a bit invasive with its data-gathering capabilities.

However, experts suggest LinkedIn has a significant opportunity amid the ongoing shifts in other social media platforms and search engines dominated by ad-driven content and rampant misinformation. LinkedIn aims to establish itself as a safer space, providing professionals and prosumers with a reliable social profile.

Just six days ago, LinkedIn began posting details about the Premium Company Page, which initially went unnoticed until a marketing consultant drew attention to it.

"We’re always seeking new ways to enhance our customers’ experience and help them achieve their business objectives. Currently, we’re testing a new offering for small to medium-sized businesses called Premium Company Page, designed to attract customers, build credibility, and help them stand out. We look forward to sharing more information soon,” stated Suzi Owens, Senior Director of Communications at LinkedIn.

While the specific pricing for the Premium Company Page is not publicly available, page admins can access this information. According to the marketing consultant, fees begin at $99.99 per month per page and can be reduced to $839.88 for an annual subscription.

The Premium Company Page represents the latest addition to LinkedIn's expanding suite of premium offerings for organizations on the platform, paralleling the diverse usage and pricing tiers available for individual users and recruiters.

Additional business-focused service tiers include Premium Career for job seekers, Premium Business for business analytics, Sales Navigator for sales teams, Recruiter tiers for talent acquisition, and LinkedIn Learning for professional development.

Collectively, LinkedIn's Premium services have become a significant revenue driver. In March, the company reported a 25% year-over-year growth in Premium subscriptions, totaling $1.7 billion in 2023. Overall, LinkedIn generated $15 billion in revenue during the same period, with its recruiting division contributing $7 billion.

The Premium Company Page subscription will incorporate familiar LinkedIn features, allowing page admins to see recent visitors—unless those visitors have opted out of this privacy setting (which is enabled by default). Admins can then invite those visitors to follow the page, overcoming previous restrictions. Additionally, they can set up prominent “call to action” buttons displaying contact details and website links at the top of their Pages. Features such as testimonials, which LinkedIn promotes heavily for individual profiles, will also have a prominent place on Premium Pages.

Moreover, the introduction of AI writing assistance demonstrates LinkedIn's commitment to integrating AI into its platform, leveraging Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI. Lastly, Premium Company Pages will be eligible for a prestigious verification badge, signifying enhanced credibility for businesses on the platform.
