London School Launches AI Teaching Pilot, Sparked Widespread Debate

Recently, the David Game College in London has begun experimenting with an artificial intelligence (AI) system to teach core subjects like English and mathematics. This innovative approach has sparked significant debate within the UK education sector. Unlike traditional classrooms with teachers delivering lessons, students at this institution will engage with the AI system through laptops to learn the material. Human teaching assistants will still be present to maintain order.

Principal Dalton described this initiative, codenamed "Hummingbird," as a bold step forward. He believes AI teachers can more easily identify students' weaknesses in STEM subjects and provide targeted guidance for improvement. The college plans to continue using this teaching method to help students prepare for the UK's General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE).

However, the AI system is not currently equipped to teach subjects like art and sex education. The pilot of the "AI classroom" has faced criticism, particularly from a group called the "Real Education Movement." Its leader expressed support for using AI to assist teachers but warned that replacing human educators with robots could negatively impact students' mental health.
