Next time you scroll through your Instagram or Facebook feed, you may spot AI-edited video ads. Meta is currently testing AI video editing capabilities that enable advertisers to animate images and expand video borders.
With Meta's AI animation tool, advertisers can upload a static image and transform it into a dynamic video. For example, the tool can make strawberries in the background gently float around a jar. Additionally, advertisers can enlarge existing videos by using AI to generate "unseen pixels" in each frame, a technique similar to background expansion in AI image editing.
These innovations build on Meta's existing AI features, which already incorporate text and image generation for ad creation. The new ads will also be featured on the upcoming full-screen video tab on Facebook.
Meta is not alone in integrating AI into advertising. Recently, Amazon unveiled an AI tool for generating video clips from product images, while TikTok is exploring the use of AI-generated avatars in ads.
