Microsoft is set to introduce enhanced Office applications featuring AI capabilities soon. According to reports, the tech giant aims to showcase its Prometheus AI technology alongside OpenAI's language model for Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 apps this March.
Following the recent launch of a revamped Bing that delivers conversational responses to search queries via the Prometheus model, Microsoft has also rolled out a new Edge browser with a built-in "AI copilot." This feature provides users with easy access to Bing's chat capabilities, effectively integrating a ChatGPT-like experience directly into the browsing platform.
Additionally, there are plans for Microsoft's AI technology to create graphs and graphics for PowerPoint and Excel, along with generating text from simple prompts in Office applications. The urgency behind these new AI features aligns with Microsoft's strategy to attract users quickly ahead of Google’s ChatGPT competitor launch.
In a strategic move, Microsoft expedited the rollout of the new Bing, initially scheduled for late February, to precede Google's Bard announcement. The company continues to expand its AI feature offerings, recently securing a significant investment in OpenAI to further enhance its capabilities.
