Microsoft announced on Wednesday that its AI-powered Designer app is officially leaving preview mode and is now available to all users on iOS and Android. This innovative, Canva-like app allows users to generate stunning images and designs using simple text prompts, enabling the creation of stickers, greeting cards, invitations, collages, and much more.
Designer is now accessible in over 80 languages on the web and is available as a free mobile app, as well as a downloadable app for Windows.
The app features customizable “prompt templates” designed to ignite your creativity. These templates offer various styles and descriptions, allowing users to experiment and share their ideas with others.
Besides stickers, you can create a wide range of graphics, including emojis, clip art, wallpapers, monograms, and avatars, all through text prompts. Additionally, Designer enables users to edit and restyle images using AI technology. For example, you can upload a selfie, select from various artistic styles, and input extra details to transform your photo dynamically.
Soon, Designer will roll out a “replace background” feature, empowering users to change image backgrounds using text prompts.
With the launch of the standalone Designer app, Microsoft also announced its integration with applications like Word and PowerPoint through Copilot. Users subscribed to Copilot Pro will soon be able to create images and designs directly within these applications. In the near future, users will have the capability to create a tailored banner for their Word documents, optimized based on the content.
In addition, Microsoft revealed that Microsoft Photos on Windows 11 will feature deeper integration with Designer. Users can now harness AI tools within the Photos app to edit images seamlessly. This includes features like object removal, background elimination, and auto-cropping, all without needing to leave the app.
This announcement signifies a significant leap forward in accessibility and creativity for users looking to enhance their design capabilities through AI.
