Nabla Secures $24M to Revolutionize Medical Consultations with AI Copilot for Doctors

Nabla, a French startup focused on creating an AI copilot to streamline the way doctors interact with patients, has announced a successful $24 million Series B funding round. This investment, led by Cathay Innovation and Zebox, brings Nabla’s total funding to $44.6 million and will be directed toward enhancing its offerings and expanding its presence in the U.S. market.

The adoption of AI copilots in healthcare has been slow due to concerns among doctors and clinicians. However, Nabla’s AI copilot has successfully addressed these hesitations, providing physicians with a seamless assistant that integrates into their daily workflow.

What Does Nabla Offer?

Nabla Copilot operates as a web app or Chrome extension on a physician’s computer, listening to patient consultations. Utilizing advanced AI, it generates clinical notes almost instantly, eliminating the need for manual documentation. These notes encompass essential details, from patient complaints to medical history and prescribed treatments. Physicians can easily review and edit these notes before saving them to electronic health records. Soon, Nabla will also introduce a feature that generates patient instructions based on the consultation, which can be saved as a PDF for patients.

To deliver these capabilities, Nabla employs real-time speech-to-text AI, combining Microsoft’s speech-to-text API with a fine-tuned Whisper model. The AI produces a transcript of the consultation, which is then summarized into clinical notes using GPT-based large language models (LLMs). Importantly, Nabla ensures that all personally identifiable information (PII) is masked during processing, with transcripts and notes only stored with explicit consent from both the physician and patient.

Making a Significant Impact in Less Than 10 Months

Traditionally, physicians have spent up to 40% of their workday on documentation. Nabla has eliminated this burden, having been adopted by over 20,000 providers within just ten months of launch and approaching three million consultations.

Psychologist M. Tursich from Mankato Clinic shares, “With Nabla, I am finally getting my weekends back. What took 8-10 hours now takes maybe 3-4 hours. I can focus on my patients instead of documentation!"

Nabla boasts that its advanced models yield highly accurate outputs, with only 5% of notes needing adjustments—results verified through testing of the web app. As the technology evolves, accuracy is expected to improve further.

With this new funding, Nabla aims to broaden its impact in the U.S. while striving to create the “most intuitive and reliable ambient AI” for medical professionals, supporting them throughout the clinical process and decision-making. The company also plans to introduce additional language options for its copilot, which currently supports English, Spanish, and French, and can be accessed using any email, not just official provider accounts.
