Nvidia Acquires Run:AI, Expanding Its AI Infrastructure Capabilities

Nvidia has officially announced its acquisition of Run:ai, an innovative Israeli startup founded in 2018 that specializes in optimizing GPU compute resources for artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning tasks. The technology developed by Run:ai empowers users to visualize and allocate their computing resources seamlessly across multiple environments, whether on-premises or cloud-based. This enables organizations to pool their GPU capabilities, sharing computing power effectively for various projects.

Having raised a total of $118 million from notable investors such as Insight Partners, Tiger Global Management, and TLV Partners, Run:ai has established itself as a leader in AI infrastructure solutions. The acquisition follows months of discussions, which began in March, highlighting Nvidia’s strategic interest in enhancing its offerings in the AI sector.

According to a company announcement, the collaboration between Nvidia and Run:ai will create a unified fabric that allows customers to access GPU solutions from anywhere. This integration promises significant improvements in GPU utilization, enhanced management of GPU infrastructure, and increased flexibility through an open architecture. Nvidia clients will benefit from direct access to Run:ai’s technology, enabling them to efficiently run their AI workloads using these advanced infrastructure solutions.

Run:ai's products will continue to be available under the existing business model for the foreseeable future, and Nvidia is committed to investing in the company’s product roadmap to ensure ongoing innovation and development. Omri Geller, co-founder and CEO of Run:ai, stated, “Run:ai has been a close collaborator with Nvidia since 2020, and we share a passion for helping our customers maximize their infrastructure capabilities. We’re excited to join Nvidia and look forward to continuing our journey together.”

Run:ai’s solutions are already integrated with several of Nvidia’s offerings, including the DGX and DGX SuperPOD systems, Base Command, and AI Enterprise software solutions. The partnership will also see Run:ai’s technology extended into Nvidia’s DGX Cloud, which is designed for enterprise developers creating generative AI solutions.

While financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed, previous reports suggested that the deal could be valued at up to $1 billion. This acquisition marks a significant step for Nvidia in bolstering its influence and capabilities in the rapidly evolving field of AI infrastructure.
