NVIDIA's Drive Atlan Chip Set to Revolutionize Cars by 2025

NVIDIA is currently developing its next-generation Drive processor, called Atlan, set for release in model year 2025 cars. Although details are limited, Atlan will feature an advanced GPU architecture and new ARM CPU cores, along with a BlueField data processing unit designed to handle the complex AI tasks essential for autonomous vehicles.

With these components, Atlan aims to deliver data center-level performance, boasting the capability of executing over 1,000 trillion operations per second. In comparison, the upcoming Orin chip, which will debut in consumer cars next year, can perform 254 trillion operations per second. This immense processing power will enable automakers to create "software-defined" vehicles, allowing for perpetual upgrades through over-the-air (OTA) updates. To streamline these updates, Atlan will leverage the same CUDA and TensorRT APIs and libraries as NVIDIA’s existing Drive chips.
