The founders of the innovative community-driven product creation platform, Off/Script, are making a bold move into AI-designed merchandise. Launched by Jonathan Brun and Justine Massicotte, the company has introduced its mobile app, enabling anyone to conceptualize, share, and monetize product mock-ups, bringing their creative visions to life. Users can design a wide array of items ranging from clothing and high-end handbags to home décor, furniture, and electronics.
The Montreal-based startup empowers users to vote on their favorite designs, while Off/Script manages funding, manufacturing, and shipping for the most popular choices. Each product idea must receive at least 100 votes to be considered. The team also evaluates the project's complexity, production costs, and inventory needs based on demand.
Off/Script features a cutting-edge generative AI design studio that enables anyone to create product mock-ups, regardless of their design experience. This studio employs the Stable Diffusion generative AI model, customized for flexibility in poses, variations, and scalability. Additionally, it utilizes ControlNet, an open network protocol that facilitates controlled image generation in Stable Diffusion, showcasing 360-degree images of products.
Creators can enter custom prompts or select from a range of pre-made product templates that they can personalize. Off/Script has curated a library of customizable clothing and accessory options, including trousers, knitted sweaters, raincoats, hoodies, t-shirts, swimsuits, duffle bags, bucket hats, and more. This approach provides creators with practical starting points, ensuring designs that are feasible for production.
AI-generated fashion has increasingly gained traction, becoming a popular resource for designers over recent years. Established design and production tool CALA, launched in 2016, recently integrated OpenAI’s DALL-E API into its offerings. Off/Script aspires to be a pioneer in merging generative AI with user-generated designs to produce tangible products.
“The studio is optional,” Massicotte explained. “Experienced designers can submit concepts created on platforms like Photoshop if they prefer. We view the Studio as a valuable tool for exploring ideas and empowering creators of all skill levels to present their visions beautifully.”
Off/Script collaborates with a network of over 1,000 manufacturers, including the Crease Group, which partners with well-known brands like Kevin Hart’s Gran Coramino tequila, Pure Barre, Rumble Boxing, and Club Pilates. Brun revealed, “In the long run, we aim to enable manufacturers to take on projects directly from our portal, allowing more creators to see their designs come to life.” He also emphasized Off/Script's commitment to finding local manufacturers, so creators can produce and sell within their own countries, thus supporting local economies.
Creators benefit from a structure that includes a 20% commission from sales and a $500 upfront fee. They also have the option to sell their items independently on platforms such as Shopify. Currently, there are 30 beta-phase products available for purchase on Off/Script's website and app, featuring items from clothing to sneakers, as well as high-end luxury goods designed by AI artists like Field Skjellerup (@ai_clothingdaily) and Alycia Rainaud (@maalavidaa), along with notable MMA coach Firas Zahabi.
“In just a few months, even before launching the app, we’ve helped our creators earn thousands from their concepts,” Brun stated. Off/Script is committed to becoming the highest-paying platform for its creator community.

Despite the ongoing debate surrounding AI-generated art, Off/Script believes that many AI artists produce unique styles and original concepts. Brun noted, “Claiming there’s no creativity in AI art overlooks the reality of how some individuals use it to express their own creative flair.” He acknowledged, however, the potential for misuse, as some individuals may use AI to appropriate the work of other designers.
Since creators can upload product mock-ups from their devices, it’s challenging to trace the origins of those images to ensure they weren’t copied. To address this, Off/Script provides an in-app reporting feature. Brun explained, “From our creative studio, we can track what prompts were used. But if someone uploads an image sourced from Midjourney, there’s no way to monitor that. We need the report function to flag any instances of alleged copying.”
In the interest of full transparency, Off/Script includes a tag that labels submissions generated with AI art tools. While many fashion designers draw inspiration from existing works, true originality is increasingly difficult to achieve. Nonetheless, a clear distinction exists between drawing inspiration and outright copying.
Should the designs produced on Off/Script prove to be as distinctive and high-quality as claimed, this initiative could provide a refreshing change from the sea of AI-generated merchandise saturating platforms like Etsy or the numerous fast-fashion brands that replicate independent artists’ work. Off/Script has raised over $7 million from investors, including Accel, BlockTower, and White Star Capital. The new app is currently available exclusively on the App Store.
