OpenAI CEO and co-founder Sam Altman recently took to X/Twitter to share his thoughts on the new Apple Vision Pro, calling it the “second most impressive tech since the iPhone.” He seemingly ranked OpenAI’s ChatGPT as the top innovation since Apple's mobile device launch in 2007.
In a light-hearted exchange, Altman addressed a comment about the Vision Pro’s “probably the worst name tho,” humorously acknowledging his own product's shortcomings.
Given Altman's perspective, it's no surprise that OpenAI released a visionOS version of the ChatGPT app just last week.
Priced at $3,500 upfront or $291.58 per month for a year, the Vision Pro stands out as one of the more costly mass-market tech devices in recent times. However, it appears to be off to a strong start, with third-party estimates indicating sales of over 200,000 units since its U.S. launch last month.
