Generative AI: Unlocking a New Realm of Creativity
Generative AI is revolutionizing the way we interact with technology, but there’s one thing it won’t share—its innermost fantasies. For instance, when you ask ChatGPT about its personal thoughts, it simply responds with a firm “no.”
This limitation is something that Swedish startup Pirr aims to challenge. The innovative company has launched an app designed using an extensive library of adult-themed fiction, allowing users to explore their fantasies with the help of AI. Users start by crafting the first paragraph and the AI takes it from there. After a few paragraphs, they can either continue the story in a choose-your-own-adventure format or write the next segment themselves before handing it back to the AI. Additionally, users can collaborate with others in the community to develop their narratives.
Pirr appears to be gaining traction, boasting over 150,000 users who spend an average of 22 minutes per session co-writing romantic novellas with the AI. The name Pirr translates to “a state of excitement” in Swedish, reflecting the startup's mission to create a space for narrative exploration while aiming to normalize a genre that, despite its massive popularity and profitability in literature, often remains taboo.
I had the opportunity to speak with the co-founders, CEO Anna Wallander and COO Beatrice Bushati, to learn more about their vision, the development process, and why everyone could benefit from a little more “pirr” in their lives.
“We are female-founded and embrace a female perspective, but our app welcomes everyone,” Wallander says. “We want to create a playground for fantasies—an environment where people can enjoy and engage in creative daydreaming because of the positive impact it can have.”

The startup successfully raised $430,000 in angel funding, attracting investors from Silicon Valley to New York and London. This capital will help transition Pirr from its minimum viable product (MVP) to a fully developed offering. The team plans to initiate monetization tests later this year, considering a subscription-based model.
“There's immense interest in story creation and reading—exploring others’ stories and collaborative writing. We see significant potential in that,” Wallander notes.
With new funding, Pirr aspires to become the leading platform for adult fiction. The company is looking to roll out exciting features, including AI-generated book covers and narrated texts. They envision co-creation not only as an engaging activity but as an alternative to sexting, providing couples new ways to add excitement to their relationships.
Pirr's app is available for download on both Google Play and the App Store, as well as online at Pirr.me.
