Read AI Secures $21 Million in Series A Funding to Enhance AI-Powered Meeting Summaries
Read AI, a frontrunner in AI-driven meeting summaries, has raised $21 million in a Series A funding round led by Goodwater Capital, alongside participation from existing investor Madrona Venture Group. This funding will expedite Read AI's mission to revolutionize the future of work by enhancing every interaction with artificial intelligence.
In conjunction with the funding announcement, Read AI introduced a new feature that integrates its “connected intelligence” capabilities across email and messaging platforms including Gmail, Outlook, Teams, and Slack. This advancement allows Read AI's intelligent agents to operate discreetly in the background, enabling seamless interactions between meetings, emails, and messages. As a result, users receive personalized and actionable briefings tailored to their specific needs and priorities.
AI Agents Streamlining Work
“Read is about getting to the heart of work — creating value, not sorting emails, expanding threads, or attending meetings,” said David Shim, co-founder and CEO of Read AI. “[Our technology] connects meetings, emails, and messages, transforming them into collaborative partners that communicate, share information, provide updates, find answers, and organize tasks through connected intelligence.”
Growth in Connected Intelligent Agents
Read AI's solution for meeting summaries, which previously operated on Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Zoom, has seen remarkable growth over the past year, with a 12x increase in monthly active users and a 15x rise in recorded meetings across 40+ countries, according to Shim.
The company's AI-powered topic reports, known as “Readouts,” distill extensive email and message threads into concise summaries that include assigned action items and responses to crucial questions. Early feedback indicates that Read AI is consistently saving knowledge workers an entire day each week, allowing them to concentrate on their core responsibilities.
“Read is helping knowledge workers reclaim 1 day a week for essential tasks,” Shim explained. “Multinational corporations are utilizing Read AI to unify communication across time zones. Social workers leverage Read to assess client meetings and integrate their Readouts into EHR/EMR systems. Consultants report gaining an additional 5 to 10 hours per employee weekly.”
Commitment to Data Privacy and Security
Shim emphasized that data privacy and security are fundamental to Read AI’s platform. The company undergoes regular SOC 2 Type 2 audits and employs end-to-end encryption for all measured data. Users maintain complete control over data retention policies, ensuring businesses and individuals can manage their information securely.
Innovating in Generative AI
As the generative AI sector rapidly evolves, Read AI distinguishes itself with a multimodal approach to meeting summaries—incorporating audio, video, and participant reactions into its analyses. This innovative method, combined with a focus on proprietary models, positions Read AI to sustain a competitive edge in the industry.
With the recent funding, Read AI aims to double its workforce over the next two quarters while continuing to enhance its connected intelligence by adding new platforms and features. Committed to its vision of creating an “AI auto-pilot” for knowledge workers, Read AI remains focused on delivering immediate and long-term ROI to its expanding user base.
