Stanford Chinese Student Creates Personalized AI Chatbot for Kids, Secures Investment from OpenAI

In the current landscape where AI social applications like ChatGPT and Character.AI are gaining popularity, a new AI chatbot tailored for children is emerging: Heeyo. This educational product offers interactive coaching and companionship for children aged 3 to 11, facilitating engaging conversations that aid their learning process.

Founded in January 2024 by Xiaoyin Qu, a Chinese entrepreneur and former Stanford Business School student, Heeyo has already made significant strides. Qu co-founded Stoooges Education, an educational consulting firm focusing on studying abroad, at the age of 19, and has prior experience working at Facebook. Recently, Heeyo announced a successful completion of a $3.5 million seed round, securing investment from notable backers including the OpenAI Startup Fund, Amazon Alexa Fund, Charge Ventures, and Pear VC. The company's latest valuation has surpassed $20 million, underscoring the growing demand for innovative educational tools for children.
