"Streamline Selections with Photoshop's New AI-Powered Tool"

Isolating objects in Photoshop can often be a labor-intensive task. For simple selections, the marquee or lasso tools work efficiently. However, when dealing with intricate subjects—like a dog with fluffy fur or a wrinkled shirt—you'll need to invest time in refining your selection. Fortunately, Adobe's AI is streamlining this process with the new Object Selection tool, which swiftly isolates complex objects in seconds.

To access the Object Selection tool, find it in the Magic Wand group on the toolbar. To isolate a single object, simply click on it. For multiple objects, drag a rectangular marquee around them, or switch to a lasso tool to avoid selecting nearby items. If you want to select part of an object, such as a person's hat, just draw the marquee over it. Adobe's Sensei AI automatically distinguishes between the background, the subject, and parts of the subject, providing a precise outline.

While some fine-tuning may still be necessary, this innovative tool can save users anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes per object, significantly reducing frustration. Notably, a similar feature debuted in Photoshop Elements 2020, sparking curiosity among Creative Cloud users about when this functionality would appear in the professional version. The Object Selection tool, however, offers enhanced capabilities over Elements' one-click option, enabling multi-object selection, edge refinements, and more accuracy.
