Tabnine Earns “Best Presentation” at Innovation Showcase
Last week, Tabnine was recognized for having the "Best Presentation" at the Innovation Showcase during Media's Transform event.
Based in Tel Aviv, Tabnine offers an AI-powered coding assistant designed to streamline software development. It serves as a pair programming tool that seamlessly integrates into a company's integrated development environment (IDE), providing intelligent code suggestions and completions tailored to specific corporate contexts.
During the showcase, Tabnine's VP of Ecosystem, Brandon Jung, announced the launch of "Coaching." This new feature constrains Tabnine’s output to align with explicit corporate standards and guidelines within the IDE. It also monitors deviations during pull requests and implements automatic adjustments.
Jung highlighted that the company frequently addresses two main concerns: trust and control. "Coaching" specifically targets the control aspect.
“We’re introducing excellent default rules, but it’s programmable,” Jung explained. “Customers can implement their own required rules, particularly crucial for industries like banking, insurance, and chip manufacturing, which demand high-security coding and consistent deliveries.”
Tabnine provides its own AI models while also hosting other models compatible with its application.
In June 2022, Tabnine launched a new version of its time-saving application programming interface. Following this, in February, it announced updates that integrated retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques for more nuanced suggestions. By April, users were able to choose from various large language models (LLMs) to enhance Tabnine Chat, allowing engineering teams to select the most suitable option for their needs.
To date, Tabnine has raised $57.1 million, with $25 million from a Series B funding round in November 2023. The company employs 85 people and competes with industry giants such as Microsoft’s GitHub Copilot, Google Gemini Code Assist, and Coedium.
Following the showcase win, Jung expressed his excitement, stating it confirms that the narrative Tabnine shares with customers resonates strongly with venture capitalists and underscores the company’s unique and scalable value proposition in the face of competition from major tech firms like Microsoft.
The Innovation Showcase judging panel included notable investors such as Lisa Yu of 99VC, Jeremiah Owyang of Blitzscaling Ventures, Eugenio Gonzalez of Plug and Play Ventures, and Tim Tully of Menlo Ventures.
