The next generation of Pixel phones may introduce innovative "Google AI" features, including a functionality similar to Microsoft's controversial Recall tool. According to reports, Google is developing a "Pixel Screenshots" feature that will allow users to "save and process helpful details" from their screenshots, making it easier to search through them. Unlike Microsoft's Recall, which automatically captures on-screen activity, Google's feature will only process user-captured screenshots, alleviating privacy concerns associated with the former.
With the Pixel Screenshots feature, users can enable or disable AI processing at any time. When activated, this tool can summarize screenshots and answer queries based on their content. Google plans to enhance the search experience by saving metadata, including links, app names, and timestamps for each screenshot.
In addition to this feature, Google is also working on an AI tool for Google Photos to improve photo searching. Further developments include a photo editing feature named "Add Me," allowing users to insert individuals into group photos, and a new Studio tool for generating stickers and imagery via AI.
Google has hinted at these upcoming AI advancements for the Pixel 9 during a teaser for its surprise hardware event on August 13th. The Pixel 9 is rumored to be available in three sizes and will feature a redesigned camera layout, moving away from the traditional bar design.
