Writer, the full-stack generative AI platform for enterprises, has announced an exciting expansion of its offerings with the launch of AI Studio and the Writer Framework. These new developer tools enable companies to quickly build and deploy custom generative AI applications. Additionally, Writer introduced new API endpoints and acquired Streamsync, a platform for creating real-time applications, to further enhance the Writer Framework.
This expansion positions Writer as a comprehensive solution for enterprise AI management and reflects the company's commitment to making generative AI accessible and practical for businesses of all sizes.
“Writing and describing your needs in natural language is now the new programming language,” said May Habib, co-founder and CEO of Writer, in a media interview. “The enterprise users who best understand project requirements aren’t necessarily engineers. We need to connect AI engineers with business users to collaboratively design and deploy effective solutions.”
Empowering Developers to Create Custom AI Applications
A key highlight of this expansion is the Writer Framework— a drag-and-drop development environment included within AI Studio. This tool allows developers to efficiently create custom AI-powered applications by connecting pre-built UI components to generative AI models while retaining the flexibility to customize the underlying code.
“This was built by developers for developers,” said Sam Julien, Head of Developer Relations at Writer. “We provide familiar tools like a drag-and-drop interface, Python support, and API endpoints, transforming AI application development into a seamless experience.”
Writer Framework supports the Python ecosystem, granting developers granular control over prompts and the ability to edit generative AI flows in their preferred code editors. “Since our tools are API-based, developers can integrate any data with an API into their apps. We provide the generative AI toolkit, enabling complete flexibility in app development,” Julien noted.
Versatility of Writer Framework: From Product Descriptions to Chatbots
Several customers are already leveraging Writer Framework to power innovative applications. Adore Me, for instance, has developed a product description generator that translates content into multiple languages while surfacing top SEO keywords. Other early applications include social media post generators, spreadsheet-based content workflows, and internal knowledge management chatbots.
Writer’s AI Studio and Framework reflect the increasing demand for enterprises to operationalize generative AI for practical applications that drive business value. As large language models become more widely available, companies that can develop robust infrastructure and user-friendly tools will have a competitive edge.
“We’re lowering the barriers for average developers at enterprise companies to leverage AI without requiring expertise in large language models or AI infrastructure,” Julien emphasized. “That’s our overarching vision.”
Founded in 2020, Writer has secured $126 million in venture funding from ICONIQ Growth, WndrCo, Insight Partners, Gradient Ventures, and others. The startup has gained traction with major enterprises, including Accenture, Deloitte, and Intuit. With the introduction of Writer AI Studio and Writer Framework, the company aims to make generative AI more accessible and beneficial for a broader range of businesses and developers.
