YouTube Unveils New AI-Powered Creator Tools Featuring a Generative Green Screen

YouTube is rolling out exciting new AI features for creators. Announced at the Made on YouTube event, these innovations include a green screen tool, creative idea insights, automatic dubbing for various languages, and a streamlined soundtrack search.

Dream Screen empowers YouTube Shorts creators with an AI-driven green screen, reminiscent of a popular TikTok feature. This tool automatically removes backgrounds from videos and replaces them with AI-generated visuals customized to your prompts. While the quality of the generated content remains to be seen, Dream Screen aims to enhance storytelling by easily creating fantastical or engaging backdrops. YouTube offers playful examples, such as exploring an enchanted forest or riding along as your pug drives you to school. Testing will begin with select creators this year, followed by a wider release in 2024.

Additionally, YouTube Studio is introducing AI-powered insight recommendations, designed to inspire content creation. Similar to consulting ChatGPT for ideas, this feature will help draft outlines and conceptualize projects. Coupled with an assistive music search in Creator Music, creators can find suitable background tracks by simply describing their content. YouTube VP Toni Reid emphasized that AI will suggest music tailored to your video's needs and budget, with both features available next year.

YouTube also unveiled its AI dubbing feature, currently in testing with select creators in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. This tool generates text-based translations into your chosen language and allows creators to review the output before selecting from various virtual narrators.

Finally, the new YouTube Create app aims to simplify content creation on mobile devices. The app offers editing tools, automatic captioning, voiceovers, filters, effects, and royalty-free music with beat matching. The free app is currently in beta for Android in select markets, providing creators with essential tools to elevate their video production.
