Since its debut at MWC in 2014 with the highly acclaimed Honor X1, Honor has consistently showcased its latest hardware innovations at this global event. The Honor X1 garnered widespread praise for its outstanding performance and design, earning multiple awards.
At MWC 2024, however, Honor is shifting its focus to demonstrating AI technology, highlighting its applications and advancements across various devices. The company introduced several hardware products, including the Magic6 series, the Magic V2 Porsche Design edition, and the MagicBook Pro 16, but it's clear that hardware is just part of their vision.
The Rise of AI Technology
The Honor Magic V series of foldable smartphones excels in hardware design, remaining slimmer than typical smartphones when closed. Honor aims to showcase how AI technology enhances user experience across diverse devices, providing convenience and fostering innovation.
In recent years, the smartphone industry has seen a slowdown in innovation, with manufacturers searching for new breakthroughs. The advancement of AI technology presents Honor with new opportunities to offer smarter services to its users.
Honor’s AI Strategy
Since 2022, Honor has been integrating AI technology into its smartphones, launching products powered by MagicOS 7.0, which includes features like AI One-Click Video Creation. In January, Honor took a further step by releasing MagicOS 8.0, announcing the comprehensive application of platform-level AI and large models for users. CEO Zhao Ming emphasized that MagicOS 8.0 marks a significant technological transition from graphical interaction to intent-recognition interaction.
Additionally, Honor has made its self-developed large AI models available to developers for free, launching the "Hundred Models Ecosystem Program" to facilitate integration and provide robust support for third-party AI models.
AI-Driven Expansion into Global Markets
Despite facing challenges in overseas markets, Honor remains optimistic about the future of AI technology in the smartphone industry. With a first-mover advantage in the AI field compared to other manufacturers, Honor aims to attract more international users through the innovative application of AI, driving sales growth, particularly in the European market.
Honor's presence at MWC 2024 highlights its ongoing progress in AI technology application and signifies a strategic shift within the market landscape.
