According to a report by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is set to introduce a range of new AI features in the upcoming iOS 18 and macOS 15, including automatically generated emojis and suggested replies for emails and messages. These updates are expected to be key highlights of the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
In his latest "Power On" newsletter, Gurman notes that Apple's AI strategy focuses on providing practical tools for everyday users, with enhancements to core applications like Safari, Photos, and Notes. Anticipated features include:
- Photo enhancement
- Voice memo transcription
- Suggested replies for emails and messages
- Automatic emoji generation tailored to various contexts
- Improved web search capabilities in Safari
- Faster and more reliable Spotlight search
- More natural interactions with Siri
- A redesigned Siri experience for Apple Watch, optimized for managing mobile tasks
- Intelligent summaries of missed notifications, personal messages, web pages, news articles, documents, and notes
- Enhanced development tools in Xcode
The less demanding AI features will operate entirely on-device, while more complex functionalities will utilize cloud services. Apple will emphasize the privacy benefits of these technologies.
Additionally, Apple may introduce many of the new AI tools as “previews” before the beta release of iOS 18, clearly indicating that these features are still under development.
