Podcastle, an expert in AI voice cloning technology, recently conducted a survey to identify which celebrities are most vulnerable to AI voice cloning misuse. The survey gathered insights from 1,000 individuals in the U.S. in order to determine which celebrity voices they believe are the easiest to replicate.
A significant 61% of respondents agreed that Arnold Schwarzenegger's voice is highly replicable, attributing this to his distinctive and instantly recognizable accent. Additionally, 86% of participants found his voice to be uniquely identifiable. Donald Trump's voice was considered easy to copy by 39% of respondents due to its frequent media presence, while 23% believed Kim Kardashian's voice has a consistent tone and pitch that makes it susceptible to replication.
Among the celebrities featured in the survey, actor Morgan Freeman emerged as a favorite choice for voice assistant technology (24%) and as a potential celebrity podcast host (11%). Participants highlighted his exceptional storytelling abilities as a key factor in keeping listeners engaged.
These celebrities were chosen based on their combined search volume on Google and TikTok for impressions. The topic of unauthorized celebrity voice cloning gained traction recently after Scarlett Johansson expressed shock and anger over her voice similarities with an updated version of ChatGPT. Notably, she had declined a previous offer to voice ChatGPT.
Voice cloning technology, although controversial, has seen some restrictions being imposed. Castle utilizes generative AI-driven features in its podcasting platform, such as voice generation from text. The company raised $13.5M in a series A funding round earlier this year.
CEO and founder Arto Yeritsyan emphasized the need for greater protection and education for users in the evolving AI voice cloning industry. He stressed the company's commitment to promoting the safe and responsible use of AI voice technology to enhance user creativity. Yeritsyan aims to provide a platform where individuals can explore AI benefits confidently and access tools to support their creative endeavors.
