Revolutionizing Sun Visors: Bosch's Virtual Visor
Sun glare is a significant cause of car accidents, accounting for nearly twice as many incidents as other weather-related factors each year. In response to this pressing issue, Bosch has reimagined the traditional sun visor with its innovative "Virtual Visor."
This state-of-the-art design incorporates a transparent LCD panel alongside a driver-facing camera equipped with AI facial detection and tracking software. The system intelligently identifies the sun's glare hitting the driver's face and uses a sophisticated algorithm to analyze their line of sight. By employing liquid crystal technology, the Virtual Visor selectively darkens the area affected by sunlight, while keeping the rest of the display transparent. This unique feature enhances visibility, eliminating the obstructions commonly associated with conventional visors.
Though the Virtual Visor represents a groundbreaking advancement in automotive safety technology, it is still in the early stages of development and is not yet available in vehicles. For now, interested individuals can view renderings online or experience an in-person demo at events in Las Vegas.
