AI-Powered Video Editing App Captions Introduces Innovative Content Scheduling Tool

Captions, an AI-driven video editing application, is launching a cutting-edge tool designed to streamline content publishing for websites. This tool not only manages the publishing schedule for videos but also automatically generates videos based on relevant topics tailored to each site.

Initially, the tool scans a website to extract content, keywords, services, and key selling points, ultimately creating a customized content plan. Currently, Captions is honing its social media strategy on platforms like Instagram Reels and TikTok, where video content thrives. Given Captions' expertise in video creation and editing, this focus is understandable, although the company indicates it may explore additional formats in the future.

The platform aims to assist small businesses, such as cafés, in showcasing chefs and featured dishes or helping dental clinics promote their services through engaging videos. The AI-powered social media manager also takes into account relevant seasonal trends to optimize content.

In June, Captions introduced a feature that allows users to automatically generate and edit videos based on prompts featuring 12 distinct AI characters. This new tool utilizes a site’s content and trending topics to create prompts for video production. As part of this business tool, sellers can upload their profiles to craft digital twins, allowing the AI tool to generate videos centered around those personas. Additionally, users can incorporate their brand identities into the videos, customizing elements like colors, logos, and fonts.

When discussing concerns about AI-generated content lacking authenticity, Gaurav Misra, CEO of Captions, emphasized that the tool serves as a valuable resource for businesses that may not have the expertise or resources to produce high-quality content independently. He stated, “For these businesses, the goal is not to go viral; they seek to establish a solid online presence and convey what makes their business unique. That’s where we come in.”

Misra further noted that with numerous responsibilities on their plates, business owners can rely on the AI social media manager to simplify the video creation process, eliminating the need to learn recording and editing skills from scratch.

Looking ahead, Captions plans to enable businesses to integrate additional pages beyond their primary website to enhance the AI's ability to formulate more comprehensive content plans.

In July, Captions secured $60 million in Series C funding from prominent investors, including Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Adobe Ventures, HubSpot Ventures, and actor Jared Leto. The company intends to invest this capital into advancing its AI technology.

“We’ve been operating for three and a half years and have raised a total of $100 million, maintaining cash flow neutrality. Our objective is to strengthen our AI capabilities because we see vast opportunities for growth,” said Misra.

He added, “In the not-so-distant future, anything you can capture on camera will be replicable through AI. Over time, the fidelity of these creations will improve. Ultimately, we envision a world where physical recording or editing of videos becomes unnecessary for sharing impactful content.”

This innovative feature from Captions is now available to users on its Max plan at $25 per month and the Scale plan at $70 per month.
