OpenAI reports that over 200 million people actively engage with ChatGPT each week, a significant increase from the 100 million users noted last November. Taya Christianson, an OpenAI spokesperson, also indicated that 92 percent of Fortune 500 companies are utilizing OpenAI’s products. Following the release of the more affordable and efficient GPT-4o Mini model, API usage has seen substantial growth.

Since the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022, major players like Google, Microsoft, and Meta have introduced their own AI chat interfaces. Recently, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that their AI assistant has garnered over 400 million monthly active users and 185 million weekly active users, despite not yet being available in the UK, Brazil, or the EU.

In related news, the US AI Safety Institute revealed that OpenAI and Anthropic have consented to allow government evaluations of major AI models prior to public release. Additionally, speculation suggests that Apple and Nvidia may join OpenAI's next round of investors.
