China Launches AIPC Version of Open Source Operating System, Featuring Deep Integration with AI Technology

The 2024 CCF (China Computer Federation) Systems Software Technology Forum opened on the 7th in Changsha. At the event, the open-source operating system openKylin was launched in its new version, openKylin for AIPC, which integrates advanced AI technology to create an efficient intelligent engine for operating systems. This release marks a significant breakthrough for China in the domains of open-source operating systems, enhancing self-sufficiency and innovation capabilities.

The openKylin for AIPC version features a unified AI interface that seamlessly integrates with desktop environments. It introduces a range of intelligent features, including AI assistants, smart image generation, and intelligent fuzzy search, dramatically improving user productivity and creative experience on China’s operating systems. As AI and heterogeneous computing technologies rapidly advance, AI personal computers (AIPC) are emerging as a powerful force, driving technological progress and market transformation.

Academician Liao Xiangke from the Chinese Academy of Engineering emphasized the significant implications of this breakthrough in local AI processing capabilities for the future of smart devices, noting that it will redefine user-computer interactions. "The openKylin for AIPC version represents important innovations, especially in constructing large models for ethnic languages," remarked Academician Ni Ma Zaxi. Academician Wang Huaimin also highlighted the power of the open-source community and its innovative potential demonstrated by this version.

Since its initial release, openKylin 1.0 has addressed the gap in China's independent selection and construction of core operating system components. The openKylin community has grown to include over 500 member organizations, more than 6,000 developers, and over one million users across 188 countries and regions. This international expansion aims to further engage global developers, encouraging them to contribute code and expertise, thereby strengthening the community's resources and collaborative efforts.
