Create Films with Stability AI-Generated Clips Using Morph Studio

Want to create a movie using various Stability AI–generated video clips? Now you can!

Morph Studio has launched an innovative AI filmmaking platform that allows users to seamlessly edit and combine video clips. This groundbreaking tool functions like a storyboard, enabling creators to input text prompts for different scenes and craft a unified narrative from their ideas.

Morph's collaboration with Stability AI enhances the creative experience, though the company plans to expand its offerings with a suite of generative video models. Users can also select Morph’s proprietary model for their projects. The platform’s process of generating, editing, and cross-cutting clips is referred to as a “workflow.” Additionally, users can share their creative workflows within Morph’s community, where others can easily replicate and modify templates by simply adjusting AI prompts.

"Filming, editing, and post-production have traditionally been distinct processes, but AI has merged these stages into a fluid, continuous workflow. If a shot isn't quite right, you can re-generate it directly on our canvas. AI has revolutionized film production," explained Xu Huaizhe, Morph’s co-founder, during an interview.

Xu is part of a talented team of computer vision PhD dropouts from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology who established Morph Studio in 2023. He views CapCut—an AI-driven video editing app from ByteDance—as a potential competitor, and he aims to ensure Morph stands out in the market.

According to Xu, Morph's strength lies in fostering a dynamic user community that enhances collaboration and creativity. "Community is challenging to replicate," he noted. From a technological standpoint, Morph is dedicated to refining its AI model to better meet the needs of creators.

Currently, Morph has a team of about 10 people and has successfully raised $2.5 million in funding from Baidu Ventures.

Building a Community Around AI-generated Content

Xu's passion for cultivating a community centered on video was evident in Morph’s first product: a platform for sharing AI-generated memes. Although the startup initially focused on high-definition videos, it first developed a model to create GIFs from text prompts to explore various use cases.

"Younger audiences today often communicate and consume news through memes," Xu stated. "While image-focused communities like Reddit and 9Gag have thrived, a video-centric online community has been lacking."

This insight led Xu to create a Telegram group where members could only use GIFs to communicate. The group quickly grew to 300 members, with users sharing humorous GIFs of figures like Elon Musk or Donald Trump, all generated by Morph’s AI. A similar channel on Discord followed suit. Now, Morph is channeling its efforts into enhancing its film production platform.

"We discovered that users aren't overly concerned about the realism of the GIFs; they appreciate the distinctiveness of AI-generated content,” Xu shared. “Memes allow people to express nuances that words alone can’t convey.”

Updated on March 1, 2023, to clarify that the video editing tool currently provides options for both Stability AI and Morph’s proprietary AI model.
