Delay in NVIDIA AI Chip Release Affects Microsoft and Other Tech Giants

According to a report from a U.S. tech website on August 3, Nvidia's next-generation flagship AI chip will face a shipment delay of at least three months due to design flaws. This setback will impact major clients, including Microsoft, Google, and Meta, the parent company of Facebook.

Originally, TSMC was set to begin mass production of the Blackwell chips in the third quarter of this year, with deliveries scheduled to start in the fourth quarter. Jensen Huang had previously indicated plans for significant shipments of Blackwell later this year. However, the design issues may push back the release of key chips (B200 and GB200) by three months or longer, with mass production now expected to shift to the first quarter of next year. Additionally, once received, cloud providers typically require about three months to fully deploy these chips in their large-scale clusters.
